Many forces impact, instigate, and influence our lives. Not all of these energies get acknowledged or mentioned often, but Los Angeles hard rock trio, Owl, takes a moment to explore these phenomena on the potent and powerful Things You Can’t See (Overit Records) due out in 2015.  Owl – Chris Wyse (vocals / bass), Jason Achilles Mezilis (guitar), Dan Dinsmore (drums) – taps directly into the unseen on their new EP.  Chris explains that Things You Can’t See is about “Taking control to shape your reality. Things you can’t see are still there and are subtle and can be moved by one’s spirit and will.”

In early 2014, Chris had some downtime from his “day job” slinging bass for seminal rock band The Cult, and before recording bass with former lead guitarist and founding member of KISS, Ace Frehley, on his chart-topping solo album, Space Invader.  Creatively on fire and armed with song ideas for Owl, Chris took on the role of producer, with Alex Todorov (“Resident Evil 4 & 5” scores) mixing the EP.

Owl holed up at Overit Studios in Upstate New York to record Things You Can’t See.  For the first time, the band didn’t work off of completed songs, but rather they jammed – honing and cultivating the music in the moment.  This new approach inspired them to be bold, experimental, and even more musically ambitious than on their previous two releases.  “We’ve evolved to a place where we completely trust each other musically,” shares Chris.  “And it really shows in the character and attitude on this record.”

“We’ve really come into our own as a band with Things You Can’t See,” concludes Dan.  “It’s a great record that is going to really make the Owl fans happy, it’s got everything in there that we do best,” adds Jason.

Chris leaves off, “The style we’ve developed is unbridled and unfiltered, as is our message.  We stand behind every single note front to back.”
