Stellar Young has become one of the most hard working and creative rock outfits in Albany, New York. Their latest and sophomore release Vessels was recorded and mixed throughout 2014 at Applehead Recording (Coheed and Cambria, Team Sleep) in Woodstock, NY by Chris Bittner and Michael Birnbaum. It is an excellent example of a band evolving and coming into their own with a unique blend of ambient rock, dance, jazz, hip-hop and folk.
Stellar Young has headlined NYS’s largest one-day street festival, logged performances at the CMJ Music Marathon, Pinelands Music Festival, and O+ Festival to name a few. Within the past year, Stellar Young has received airtime on over 53 radio stations nationally, and their latest album Vessels reached #7 on KKBB alternative specialty chart in 2015.
Property of Zach calls the group “engaging enough to garner mainstream indie rock fans attention and intricate enough to please music snobs.”
On Friday, October 2, 2015 Overit Studios opened its doors to the public for its grand opening party. Stellar Young agreed to come in and present an intimate acoustic set of songs off their latest record for a gathering of musicians, producers, artists, and fans. With minimal sound reinforcement, the re-worked pieces came to life in the 1200-square-foot live room. Here is what we captured at that performance.
